Many people who live along the light rail line work jobs that require them to be there on weekends as well. It shouldnt be that way on the NWK-Grove St Line in my opinion. due to flooding from a nearby water main break. The light rail service is pretty much every 20 minutes on Saturdays and every 25 minutes on Sundays-this is the entire NWK Light rail network. Following the tour, we plan to ride back to Newark Penn Station, eventually heading to the Broad Street terminal at Riverfront Stadium. Newark Light Rail Service is currently suspended in both directions between Orange St. Planning began in 1998 to build a street-level light rail line connecting New Jersey Transits Newark Penn Station with its Newark Broad Street station. The initial ride between Penn Station and Grove Street will be followed by a guided tour of the Grove Street Shop. This trip will feature a ride on the old Newark City Subway line between Newark Penn Station and Grove Street and the extension between Newark Penn Station and Newark Broad Street Station. The ERA is pleased to announce a ride on NJ Transit’s Newark Light Rail Lines and a tour of the Grove Street Maintenance Shop, our first since 2011 (photos from that trip featured here). The City Subway opened on May 16, 1935, while the combined Newark Light Rail service was officially inaugurated on July 17, 2006. The service consists of two segments, the original Newark City Subway (NCS), and the extension to Broad Street station.
